Treasure Coast Kennel
Spay/Neuter Agreement
Permanent ownership of this dog is contingent upon your compliance with this Addendum. Proof of the spay/neuter must be received by the purchaser within fourteen (14) days after the surgery. In the event that the dog’s health does not allow this agreement to be honored, Treasure Coast Kennel must be provided with a statement from your veterinarian that this dog is not yet in physical or emotional condition for surgery. Based upon the veterinarian’s evaluation of this dog the purchaser will contact the veterinarian and establish the earliest date that the procedure can be performed. PURCHASER will notify the BREEDER of this amendment in writing, at which time all other conditions of this agreement will apply and be enforced.
This is the responsibility of the PURCHASER, not the veterinarian, to ensure that Treasure Coast Kennel has received verification that the surgery has been performed. Failure to comply with this agreement by the date below, unless otherwise agreed to in writing, will be considered a breach of the Contract, and PURCHASER will transport this dog back to Treasure Coast Kennel and will not be entitled to a refund.
By my signature below, I agree to have this dog spayed/neutered by no later than__________________________, and I understand that this spay/neuter agreement is an agreement that this dog will not produce a litter of puppies either as purposely bred or by accidental breeding. I also agree that should puppy not be altered that I will return said puppy back to Treasure Coast Kennel with no refund. Seller shall provide Buyer with registration papers after receiving proof of spay/neuter from a licensed Veterinarian. If such proof is not provided within this time, Seller will retain registration papers on the puppy.
Why should this dog be spayed/neutered? Any puppy sold as a pet should not be bred. This is simply for the improvement and maintenance of the breeding line for American Bullys and APBT's. Breeders have striven for years to select and perfect the looks and temperment of American Bullys and APBT's. Dogs are eligible for a breeding program only if they are able to reproduce either their own quality or better quality in each successive generation. Breeding is not to be done casually nor is it a money-making venture. It is not a hobby and is very time consuming and energy demanding. By demanding that this pet-quality puppy be neutered/spayed, it avoids mass-production of average quality American Bullys and APBT's, controls the already overblown dog population, and improves the overall fitness of the purebred line.
**This does not mean that this puppy is an inferior dog. This puppy is as capable as any of its littermates of becoming a lovable, well-trained, and perfectly happy dog. Given the proper amount of love and attention, nothing should prevent this puppy from becoming an excellent companion and family member.

Why spay/neuter: Fixing your dog prevents pregnancy and the birth of unwanted puppies. It avoids the need to restrain the dog during estrus. It keeps both sexes from roaming away from your house in search of a mate. It reduces the tendency of male dogs to urinate in the house, marking his territory. Licensing fees are also cheaper. Additionally, it avoids reproductive-related problems such as tumors, pyometra, false pregnancy, prostate infections, and old-age cancers.
There can be many serious risks involved with breeding. The mother can develop complications and require expensive medical treatment. The mother can die because of complications and leave you to do her job. Believe me after 3 days you will be wishing you never did this. Buying formula, finding proper bottles, knowing how much to feed, killing the puppies if you over or under feed. Getting them to eliminate. That is a fun one! There are so many animals out there already and the shelters are full of unwanted pets. Do you want one of the puppies you bred to be euthanised because the people who bought it changed their mind? I should hope not. Get a pet, enjoy your pet and have them spayed or neutered it will lengthen their lives in the long run.
